Happy anniversary. It's been a pleasure following your work over the years, dude. This is the first I've heard of these games, but thinking about it, wrestling and LaD go together incredibly well. As cool as the combat looks, the camera is a bit too close, though I guess you can get used to it. It's impressive how much stuff they fit into this little UMD. It'd be neat to see some mention of Tatsuya in the series, even if it may be very unlikely.

One thing I like about the game is the various distinct gangs that litter Kamurocho who make up the random street fights and combat parts of the optional B-Plot (seen in the substories). There's about 4 here (From the tanned tough guy group known as Diablo, the Hip Hop wannabe grapplers from DIS, the flashily dressed and fighting KINGDOM guys along with the classic High School Delinquents which make up Death Corps), each with their own distinct fashion sense, preferred fighting styles and territory on the map. (Diablo on the bottom left, DIS on top left, KINGDOM on bottom right, Death Corps on top right) Admittedly, I do prefer this approach over the mainline titles, especially with their multi-part system ensuring that no two enemies look completely the same. Like these punks actually look like punks.

Minotaur is the BEST One. The worst is Centaur, Lucifer, 4 Archangel, Lilith and Sanat. At least Doi fix Lucifer, Merkabah, Lucifer, Centaur, Napaea and Tenkai make them more appealing

Welp... good to mention that in my language, "Mara" is a word for "Apparition" or a female wraith. Usually in reference to the "Night mares", as in spirits that torment you at night.

9 years? Weak lol I got Yakuza: Like a Dragon from the free PlayStation games and it was my favorite free game beat the whole thing good to see coverage of a game I never would check out. 🤗

Just as an aside, the music in this game (like all LAD games) is absolutely kickass.

First-time viewer, now subbed. Good review! I played this one recently as well. I agree, it's definitely better than you'd expect from an LAD game shoved onto the PSP. Personally, my big complaint was how the AI would shamelessly spam block-and-counter moves, even making frame-perfect counters that feel like it's reading your inputs. That got VERY annoying after awhile. BTW, just as a suggestion: Have you ever played Kenka Bancho Badass Rumble? It's also on PSP and is kind of like a cross between Like A Dragon and Way Of The Samurai, with the goofiness of River City Ransom. I ended up playing it side-by-side with Black Panther, and it was kind of interesting comparing how the two games took very different approaches to fairly similar "bancho life sim" material.

It has that perfect 2010 portable game vibe that's so comforting and atmospheric to me.. I would really enjoy if you could bring the second game and other games like this too on the channel!

I really like how Cherub's looks, as a Bayonetta fan I think it's design really matches SMT and I think the mechanical look really helps it stand out and look like something unique and cohesive with the game, just as the cherubim did in Bayo games Lilith looks great here, but she is quite.. holey? I'm sorry but konohana is an F- for me, she fails at doing her one job which is healing and mp restoration because she doesn't have a proper mp pool to sustain and you have to run around finding incense just to her work. Literally Alilat is better at the same thing minus the mp restoration (which isn't even that much to start with). You're better off just slapping energy on all your party members or painstakingly running around with decarabia to get the support items you need which you can no longer get 99 of, you can only 20 or 10 with no in between.

It's good to mention that Jinn are, from my knowledge at least, simply supposed to be "Like humans, but from a different world". And that humans have been made from base mud, while Jinn were made of base fire. So technically, every Jinn is a "Fire spirit". On that topic, Both Jinn and Efritt are supposed to be "Mortal" beings just like humans and have free will just like humans, with the exception that they come from a "Different realm" where everybody is normal like that, only when interacting with humans they seem almost godlike by comparison. I did mention they have free will, a lot of them actually worship Allah and are said to lead lives of charity and kindness, while others are crafty tricksters and swindlers
